Seit wann bist du bei der Berliner Koordinierungsstelle gegen FGM_C dabei?

Seit Anfang 2022 arbeite ich im Berliner Koordinationsbüro gegen FGM_C. Aber auch seit 2015 war ich in verschiedenen Organisationen wie Assobul aktiv.

Was machst du im Projekt?

Meine Arbeit besteht darin, den Dialog mit der kenianischen Gemeinschaft zu fördern. Ein Gespräch zu beginnen und sie für einige der Normen zu sensibilisieren, die wir vielleicht für in Ordnung halten, die aber sehr negative Auswirkungen auf unsere Frauen haben.

Was motiviert dich im Kampf gegen FGM?

Die Stärkung der Rolle der Frau und der Schutz der Kinder sine meine Motivation. Außerdem ist die vollständige Abschaffung von FGM ebenfalls eine meiner Motivationen.

Was brauchst du, um den Kamp gegen FGM voranzubringen?

Für den Kampf gegen FGM brauchen wir Zeit, denn es ein sensibles Thema, das von Mensch zu Mensch unterschiedlich angegangen wird.

How long have you been active at the Berlin Coordination Office against
FGM_C?

Since the beginning of 2022 I have been working at the Berlin Coordination Office against FGM_C. But I was already active in different organizations like Assobul since 2015.

What are you doing in the project?

My work is to promote dialogue with the Kenyan community. To start a conversation and make them aware of some of the norms that we may think are okay but have a very negative impact on our women.

What motivates you in the fight against FGM_C?

The empowerment of women and the protection of children are my motivation. In addition, the complete abolition of FGM is also one of my motivations.

What do you need to advance the fight against FGM?

We need time to fight FGM because it is a sensitive issue that is approached differently from person to person.
