Join our CHAIN: Jahresabschluss beim Stammtisch im Blue Nile

Am 14. Dezember 2023 kamen fast alle Community TrainerInnen (CTs) des Projekts Join our CHAIN zum Stammtisch im Blue Nile in Kreuzberg zusammen, um das vergangene (Projekt-)Jahr gemeinsam zu reflektieren und abzuschließen. Mittlerweile ist es schon das dritte Treffen in diesem Format seit Beginn der Community-Arbeit im Sommer diesen Jahres. Mit dabei waren zudem auch Mitarbeiterinnen des Projekts der Bundesgeschäftsstelle. 

„Bonjour“, „Hello“ oder „Guten Abend“ ertönte es jedes Mal, wenn eine weitere Person zur Gruppe hinzustoß und sich der große Tisch im äthiopischen Restaurant langsam füllte. Gleich war jedoch das herzliche Lachen, was jede und jeder Einzelne mit in den Raum brachte. Durch die straffen Zeitpläne aller Beteiligten ergibt sich nicht oft die Möglichkeit, dass alle CTs und Referentinnen zusammenfinden. Es war offensichtlich, dass sich daher alle Anwesenden darauf freuten, jetzt endlich nochmal als Gruppe zusammenkommen und einen entspannten Abend miteinander verbringen zu können.  

Ein Highlight der Veranstaltung war definitiv das traditionelle äthiopische Essen. Für den ein oder anderen war es sogar das erste Mal und so war es auch ein kultureller Austausch mit neuen Erfahrungen, die zu Gesprächen über andere Länder und Kulturen anregten. Neben vielen privaten Gesprächen wurde aber auch über das Projekt gesprochen. Marlies Arndt, Referentin im EU-Projekt, hatte hierzu Leitfragen mitgebracht, die die CTs beantworten konnten. Sie selbst äußerte sich: „Ich bin unglaublich froh, ein Teil hiervon zu sein“. Alle hatten die Möglichkeit ihre Wünsche für das kommende Jahr oder ihre Highlights des letzten Jahres mit den anderen zu teilen. Ayham Jneed, einer der CTs, fasste seine Erfahrungen bewegend zusammen: „Man fühlt sich Zuhause“. 

Das Essen schien allen gut geschmeckt zu haben denn am Ende des Abends waren die Teller leer und die Bäuche voll. Als es draußen schon längst dunkel war, ging der Abend mit Popcorn und einem frischen Kaffee langsam zu Ende. Zum Abschied gab es noch Weihnachtskarten und ein Weihnachtsgeschenk von TERRE DES FEMMES für alle CTs. Das Event hat die Gruppe weiter zusammengeschweißt und die CTs konnten sich untereinander noch besser kennenlernen. Wie die CT Tiranke Diallo sagte: „Ich habe schon in vielen Projekten gearbeitet, aber diese Gruppe ist etwas Besonderes“. Schon jetzt kam der Wunsch nach einer neuen Zusammenkunft des Stammtisches im kommenden Jahr auf. 

Wir bedanken uns bei allen, die das erste Projektjahr begleitet und mitgestaltet haben, wünschen frohe Weinachten sowie einen guten Rutsch, und freuen uns auf ein weiteres erfolgreiches und ereignisreiches Jahr 2024! Zum Schluss schließen wir uns den Worten von unserem CT Clément Drabo an: „Es ist mein Wunsch für nächstes Jahr, dass es so schön bleibt wie jetzt“.

The last regulars' table of the year at the Blue Nile 

On the 14th of December 2023, almost all community trainers (CTs) from the Join our CHAIN project came together for a regulars' table at the Blue Nile in Kreuzberg to reflect on and conclude the past (project) year. This has been the third meeting in this format since the start of the community work this summer. Fellow project employees from the federal office were also present. 

"Bonjour", "Hello" or "Guten Abend" sounded each time another person joined the group as the large table in the Ethiopian restaurant slowly filled up. What was the same, however, was the warm smile that each and every person brought into the room. Due to the tight schedules of everyone involved, it is not often that all the CTs and coordinators are able get together. It was obvious that everyone present was therefore looking forward to finally sit together as a group and enjoy a relaxed evening. 

A highlight of the event was definitely the traditional Ethiopian food. For some, it was the first time trying it which made it also a cultural exchange with new experiences that inspired conversations about other countries and cultures. In addition to many private conversations, the project itself was also discussed. Marlies Arndt, policy specialist in the EU project, had brought along some key questions for the CTs to answer. She herself commented: "I am incredibly happy to be a part of this". Everyone had the opportunity to share their wishes for the upcoming year or their highlights of the past one with the others. Ayham Jneed, one of the CTs, summarised his experience movingly: "You feel at home". 

The food must have tasted good to everyone because by the end of the evening, the plates were empty and the bellies were full. When it was already long dark outside, the evening slowly came to an end with popcorn and a fresh cup of coffee. As a farewell, there were Christmas cards and a Christmas present from TERRE DES FEMMES for all CTs. The event brought the group even closer together and the CTs were able to further get to know each other. As CT Tiranke Diallo said: "I have worked in many projects, but this group is something special". The desire for a new meeting of the regulars’ table next year has already been brought up. 

We would like to thank everyone who has supported and helped shape the first year of the project, wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We’re looking forward to another successful and eventful year in 2024! Finally, we would like to join our CT Clément Drabo in his words: "My wish for next year is that it stays as beautiful as it is now".
