TERRE DES FEMMES Film Festival 2004
„Insights into Women´s Worlds“

Between the 18th and the 24th of November the TERRE DES FEMMES film festival will once again take place at Tübingen and Rottenburg.

We will continue to put a special emphasis on the Middle East, as well as on the North African region and the Farere East. Many films will be included in the series “Girl´s Worlds”, about the perspectives of the next generation of women in a globalized world. We will also bring into focus issues as crimes in the name of honor – honor deaths and forced marriage - , women in post-soviet societies, women in situations of war as well as women and globalization.

Mexican human rights activist Judith Galarza visits German and Austrian cities with the film

More than 300 women factory workers have been murdered in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico during the last ten years. To call attention to this crime, for which no one could yet be prosecuted, TERRE DES FEMMES organises a tour with the Mexican human rights activist Judith Galarza to 11 German and Austrian cities. After the screening of the award-winning documentary film “Señorita Extraviada – Missing Young Woman” the audience will have the possibility for discussion with Judith Galarza. The event’s aim is to achieve massive public support to avert more murders. Violations of human rights in factories of the global world market will also be a general topic.

Regional Film Festivals

Since 2003 there are also regional filmfestivalss being held in other German cities under the title „Women´s Worlds”. They are organized by TERRE DES FEMMES activist groups together with local cinemas, with films from the latest Tübingen Filmfestival.

Insights into Women's Worlds

TERRE DES FEMMES at the 25th International Filmfestival of Havanna

At the 25th Festival of the New Latin American Cinema in Havanna, Cuba, from 2nd to 12th of December 2003, TERRE DES FEMMES cooperated in a Program of films made by women, named “De cierta manera”, which screened 60 films from 20 countries. As well TERRE DES FEMMES organized within the filmfestival, together with PALOMAS, Cuba, Feminale Film Festival and the Superior School of Arts and Media, both Cologne, Germany a conference, entitled “The feminine look in audiovisual production and distribution and its contribution to a culture of peace”.

Film Festival by TERRE DES FEMMES 2003

Film Festival 2003

Since 2001 TERRE DES FEMMES has organised and coordinated an International Film Festival, where international movies, that deal with women and/or women's human rights are presented.

The film festival is taking place each year in November under the slogan 'Insights into Women's Worlds' in Tübingen und Rottenburg.
