Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation: Together with CHANGE Agents and activists, TERRE DES FEMMES organised a Berlin protest at the Brandenburg Gate

On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation on the 6th of February, TERRE DES FEMMES organised a public protest march with newly recruited CHANGE Agent and anti-FGM activist Binta Fatty, staring at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

Joined by various CHANGE Agents and activists from Berlin communities, TDF employees and policy specialists for FGM held a speech at the famous Berlin tourist attraction to raise awareness about this global issue.

Community CHANGE Trainers Present at Symposium on Intercultural Health Services

On Saturday, 2nd of February 2019, the city of Augsburg held a symposium on intercultural medicine. The event has been organised by Fill e.V., a forum for intercultural living and learning. Two of our CHANGE Trainers, Colette Tchoumbou and Evariste Franz Kapnang attended the events as special experts on FGM. The first part of the conference was composed of lectures around the topic female genital mutilation, including trauma and intercultural competence in handling medical patients.

Colette Tchoumbou and Evariste Franz Kapnang presented their work with affected diaspora communities. The interest for their work was very high and a lot of questions had been raised around their experiences with communities. Among the attendees at the symposium were physicians and medical workers, as well as social workers, counsellors and other kind of pedagogic key professionals.

Let’s CHANGE in the starting blocks: First CHANGE Agent Training in Berlin

The very first CHANGE Agent training of the new, co-funded project Let’s CHANGE took part last weekend on January 26th 2019 at the main office of TERRE DES FEMMES. Surprisingly for everybody, the training was accompanied by snow, which has fallen down the day before and did not leave every CHANGE Agent thrilled. However, the joy came back when the known faces arrived slowly and reunited after the kick-off meeting in December 2018.

UNICEF Sudan Exchanges Experiences on Combatting FGM with TDF in Berlin

Start of the new Let´s CHANGE project in Berlin

Photo: © TERRE DES FEMMESThe Kick-Off meeting of the new Let´s CHANGE project took place at the TERRE DES FEMMES head office in Berlin on the 23rd and 24th October 2018. Similar to the previous project, TERRE DES FEMMES as coordinator of Let’s CHANGE and the project partners Plan International in Hamburg, FSAN in Amsterdam and Equipop in Paris as well as the evaluation consultancy Open Europe Consulting in Munich came together to start their cooperation within the project.
