The project partners from EndFGM (Belgium), AIDOS (Italy), MDM (Spain) and APF (Portugal) discussed the current status as well as the further process of the project.

Very important points on the agenda were the Monitoring and Evaluation of the project and the challenges regarding the implementation of the project in schools.

The former aspect was discussed and analysed with the support of the project’s Monitoring & Evaluation consultant Sam Cunningham. How can the project’s impact in the different contexts be measured? Photo: © APFThe first workshop of all partners for the opening of the Gender ABC project took place from 3rd to 5th October 2018 in Lisbon. The project coordinator END FGM EU from Brussels, the organisations Médicos del Mundo (MDM) from Madrid, Associazione Italiana Donne per lo Sviluppo (AIDOS) from Rome and TERRE DES FEMMES (TDF) from Berlin met in the office of the fifth partner organization Associação para o Planeamento da Família (APF) in the Portuguese capital. Framework conditions and principles as well as the contents of the project were discussed and adapted.

Students in Berlin, Lisbon, Rome and Madrid will be sensitized for topics such as equality, children’s rights and gender-based violence and informed about their rights. To achieve this, the partners develop modules concerning topics like human and children’s rights, gender-based norms, social power relations, sexual violence, forced and early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). These modules can be used as guidelines for the educators implementing the project in school. Additionally, information events as well as preparation meetings with teachers, parents, and political authorities are planned.
